The AfterMath

Do you have questions ... about the questions?

Maybe you attended one of our contests recently and still can't figure out how to do some of the problems. Or perhaps you missed out on the contest but would still like to see some math problems worked out with clever solutions. The AfterMath is a one-hour workshop where we go over problems from a recent mathleague.org test set. Students who register early enough will be given an opportunity to request problems; while we cannot guarantee that we will get to every requested problem, priority will be given to requested problems that are likely to be of interest to a large number of students.

All AfterMath workshops will be held in our online classroom. Participants will be emailed a link to access the classroom about an hour before the workshop starts. All workshops will be recorded so that students who couldn't attend the workshop can watch the video after the workshop is completed. In addition, registered students will receive an electronic copy of the test release being reviewed, in some cases months before those tests are made available for sale to the general public!

Our current list of AfterMath workshops is below; be sure to sign up early because space is limited! Click on the "REGISTER" button to register for the workshop. Remember to check back frequently to see what additional workshops we add to this list.

If you would like to see what The AfterMath looks like before signing up, check out our sample video. If you wish to purchase recordings of The AfterMath sessions from previous school years you can purchase those from our online store.

About the Instructors

Doug Keegan - Doug has experienced competitive mathematics from all angles. As a competitor, Doug was a Top 25 finisher at National MATHCOUNTS and was recognized by the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association as the top student in Texas during his senior year of high school. Following his time as a competitor, he served as an assistant ARML Coach, principal contest author for Mathleague.org during its formative years, and as a MATHCOUNTS reviewer for nearly two decades. Over the years he has tutored and coached students of all levels and abilities. A software engineer by trade, Doug holds a BS in Applied Mathematics from Texas A&M University. Doug currently handles multiple responsibilities for mathleague.org, including principle contest author for our Elementary School and Middle School contest materials.

Tim Sanders - A former President of the American Regions Math League (ARML), Tim Sanders has coached ARML students in over a dozen states and has led both the SFBA/NorCal and Wild Wild West ARML teams to national championships in their respective divisions. Tim is the founder and President of mathleague.org and has promoted math competitions around the world, giving talks or organizing contests on six continents. In addition to having several years experience as a classroom teacher, Tim has taught a number of classes for Stanford's EPGY program and has taught AMC prep classes at all levels. Tim also developed the curriculum for an AoPS geometry class and has co-taught several classes for Art of Problem Solving.

Thinula De Silva - Thinula is currently finishing up his undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo and hopes to pursue graduate studies in Combinatorics & Optimization. In high school, he served as the Head Problem Writer of the Mathematics Association of Toronto High Schools and continues to write problems for several math contests, including mathleague.org. He is currently the assembler for the Middle School contests and also teaches several of our classes and AfterMath sessions. Outside of mathleague.org, Thinula is on the Question Writing Committee for MATHCOUNTS and on the problem writing committee for ARML. He has also worked as a MATHCOUNTS National Reviewer in the past and was a teaching assistant for several classes run by Art of Problem Solving. In his spare time, Thinula enjoys playing Genshin Impact and many board games such as Chess, Go, and Othello.

Classes may also be co-taught by other mathleague.org staff members if enrollment is large enough; we will try to keep the student/teacher ratio as low as possible while still providing excellent value for your money.
