National Championships Scholarships
mathleague.org has awarded scholarships at our US National Championships since 2021. The following terms apply to the 2024 US National Championships and will be updated each year prior to the National Championships:
Middle School
We will be awarding an $800 scholarship to the overall written round winner at the 2024 Middle School National Championship, as determined by the individual total score (together with any item analysis or tiebreakers as needed). In addition, we will be awarding a $400 scholarship to the online Countdown Round winner and a $400 scholarship to the in-person Countdown Round winner. 8 students who are participating in the contest online will be chosen for the online Countdown Round, and 8 students who are participating in the contest in person will be chosen for the in-person Countdown Round. Participants in each Countdown Round will compete in a single elimination head-to-head contest using a seeded bracket; rules for the Countdown Round will be announced at the contest. Students will be assigned a seed number equal to their overall individual rank on the written competition rounds (Sprint and Target) and will be placed into the bracket in a position that will require them to win no more than three matches to win the Countdown Round. The 8 students with the best seed numbers from among the students attending the contest online will be chosen to participate in the online Countdown Round, and the 8 students with the best seed numbers from among the students attending the contest in person will be chosen to participate in the in-person Countdown Round. The online Countdown Round will be held over Zoom, while the in-person Countdown Round will be held in person. The contest director will make every effort to accurately determine the qualifiers and the winners for the Countdown Rounds, and the contest director's decisions in this regard are final and unappealable.
