mathleague.org is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a junior high math contest on February 7, 2010. Testing will consist of Sprint, Target, Team and Countdown rounds. The contest will be held at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, and the cost will be $10 per student. The approximate schedule will be as follows:
- 8:00 Check in
- 8:30 Testing begins
- 11:00 Lunch
- 12:00 Countdown round and awards
Diablo Valley College is located at 321 Golf Club Road in Pleasant Hill; a map is available here. Testing will be held on the ground floor of the math building (number 6 on the campus map) in room MA101, and parking is available just south of the math building.
Prizes will be given to the top students in each grade level, as well as to the top teams. mathleague.org will also be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Red Cross to help with earthquake relief efforts in Haiti! To find out more about how you can help in this effort click here. Students are expected to bring their own pencils and calculators; students may bring a lunch if they wish, but lunch will also be available for purchase on site.
Every group of up to 24 students that registers for the contest must be accompanied by an adult sponsor who is willing to help proctor or grade tests (this sponsor should be designated on the registration form). Parents can register individual students and serve as sponsors if necessary, but we recommend that parents check to see if there is anyone else at the school who is planning to attend before registering an individual student.
CLICK HERE TO REGISTER NOW! NOTE: REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 5.
Practice tests are available for purchase at the mathleague.org store if you would like to prepare for the contest (one set of tests is available for free download at that link as well). Further questions can be directed to mathleague@mathleague.org or 877-872-5244. We look forward to seeing you on February 7!
