California Elementary School State Championship

mathleague.org is pleased to announce that it will be hosting California's first annual Elementary state championship on May 14, 2011 for students in grades 3, 4, and 5. Testing will consist of Sprint, Target, and Team rounds. The contest will be held at Diablo Valley College, and the cost will be $10 per student. The approximate schedule will be as follows:
  • 12:00 Check in
  • 12:30 Testing begins
  • 3:00 Break and math games for students
  • 3:30 Tiebreakers and awards
Diablo Valley College is located at 321 Golf Club Road in Pleasant Hill; a map is available here. Testing will be held on the ground floor of the math building (number 6 on the campus map) in room MA101, and parking is available just south of the math building.

Prizes will be given to the top students in each grade level, as well as to the top teams. Students are expected to bring their own pencils and calculators; students should plan to eat lunch before arriving.

Every group of up to 12 students that registers for the contest must be accompanied by an adult sponsor who is willing to help proctor or grade tests (this sponsor should be designated on the registration form). Please note that this contest is by invitation only, and only students who have qualified for this contest may attend. A list of qualifying students was sent to each school in late April; please contact us if you have any questions regarding which students from your school are qualified for state.
